Boating

The picture to the left is of the Ancholme river at the historic market town of Brigg. Brigg also has it's own marina and boat club.

Regular events in the Tuesday Night Club On Tour calendar now include at least 8 weeks canal cruising on the waterways of Britain and now IRELAND, with occasional mainline steam rail tours. It is our aim to cruise all the navigable inland waterways of Britain! This site will detail the varied past and future cruises of T.N.C. On Tour. Of particular interest to canal enthusiasts will be the emphasis placed on little used or hard to reach navigations.

Fishing

If you fancy a change after fishing the Ancholme then why not pop along to Toft Newton Trout Farm. At Toft Newton Trout Farm you can test your fly fishing skills from the shore or in a boat or you can just go along and learn the art of fly fishing. This is a good informative site.

Bird Watching

Bird Watching - This is a wonderfully informative site with hundreds of bird photo's of which many were snapped within Lincolnshire. It is worth a browse and maybe leave the author a message or two. The photo to the left has been cribbed from his blog. Oh, did we mention that he is also a local chap?

Bird Watching - This site gives you the location of Boultham Mere (believe it or not it's in the middle of the City of Lincoln). This is where some of the photo's shown in the above blog link were taken.

Bird Watching - this chap is based in Ely, Cambridgeshire. We've included his blog because we think it is informative and like the above link, we think it contains some brilliant snaps. We also think that Cambridgeshire is not so far from Lincolnshire but no doubt he has knowledge about this area too. Again, I'm sure he will appreciate a message or two; we just want to say what a brilliant picture of a barn owl in flight.

Extract from the site: "To the north and east of Market Rasen lie Willingham Woods. The majority of bird watchers will remember Willingham Woods because of one bird.... We were amazed to find a White-throated Sparrow in one of the nets which was ringed and released. It stayed until the following March and was viewed by more than 5,000 birdwatchers" - pictured left.

Dole Wood

Bourne Dole Wood - (we cribbed this photo from their site) Extract from their site: A cart track leads to Dole Wood, a small surviving piece of ancient woodland amid a large tract of farmland on the outskirts of Bourne. This is one of the most attractive copses in the county and is managed by the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust

Normanby Hall

Normanby Hall - Scunthorpe - This link will take you to their page on the NorthLincs.gov site. Enjoy the extensive woodland with its wealth of wildlife, or walk through the Deer Park with its herds of Red and Fallow Deer. There are self-guided nature trails which allow visitors to enjoy the park throughout its constantly changing seasons. Younger children will enjoy watching the ducks and peacocks or playing in the adventure playground. Worth seeing.

Hall Farm Park is about 5 miles from our site. Just follow the Caistor Road, go through South Kelsey and it is there on the right. They are open all year round but check their site for times. Some of the things they offer: Feed and cuddle the animals; rare breeds; tractor + trailor rides; play barn; adventure area; pedal go-karts and tractors; tea room; sandpits; bouncy castles; tube slides; trampolines; nature trail; goat walking and so on.

Wragby Maze; Bardney Road, Wragby, Lincoln LN8 5JS U.K. Telephone/Fax (01673) 858660 or 857372, is actually a conifer center but On 4th May 1996, a maze of multicursal design was opened. The maze was designed by Mr M.Comins N.C.H.L.D.C. They mention on their site that they have a picnic area, garden and topiary but I couldn't find pictures on their site. The maze will certainly be fun for the children but maybe not on rainy days?
